Hidalgo County Heaith Consortium Update Submitted by TAMMY HOPKINS/ and member of a suicide crisis contact numbers. HCHC The Hidalgo County Health Consortium is currently partnering with numerous other agencies to make the 2010 Teen Maze a successful educational tool that reaches all county youth. ages 12.18~ The Maze will take place on March 24-26. with a par- ent/communi.ty viewing on March 23. The layout has changed dramatically this year. but promises lots of educational fun! Suicide prevention presenta- tions have also been scheduled to take place for grades 7-12 in both Animas and Lordsburg on February 16. This school preven- tion program is an extension to the Suicide 101 Prevention train- ing that was offered to the com- munity in December. Presenters will be Michelle Linn-Gust. Ph.D., speaker, author, and sibling suicide survivor, as well as Joann Sartorious, L.I.S.W., school-based suicide prevention coordinator Tobosa Belles to award two Scholarships Tobosa Belles. the local chapter of the New Mexico Cowbelles, will be awarding two scholarships in May. An appli- cant must be a graduating senior or continuing student who is from a Hidalgo County High School or a resident of Hidalgo County. An applicant must be from'an agricultural background or pur- suing a career in an agriculturally related field. Applications and additional information are available at Lordsburg, Animas and Duncan High Schools and at Western Bank, The deadline for submit- ting applications is April 15.
