HIDALGO COUNTY HERALD FRIDAY, MARCH 13, 200'9 5 Flanagan isnew CE0 of Girl Scouts of Desert SW Courtesy submission Effective March 16, 2009, Diane Flanagan will be the CEO of the Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest - Southern New Mexico & West Texas, which includes troops in Hidalgo County. Girl Scouts in a 92,000 square-mile region will be served by the new Girl Scouts of the Desert Southwest - Southern New Mexico & West Texas. Diane Flanagan brings exten- sive experi- ence in sales. marketing, and manage- ment. Ms Flanagan's expertise in- cludes: fundraising; promotion: business analysis; building strategic al- liances: engineering. She was a Senior Executive for 25 years at Delphi Corpo- ration. Most recently, Ms. Flanagan held the position of Director of Marketing and Sales for Mexico. In this role. she implemented sales strategies and marketing programs for ve, hicle manufacturers in Mexico, generating annual sales for Delphi in exress of $2 billion, She previously gained executive Diane Flanagan management skills working at Packard Electric Division of General Motors. Ms. Flanagan holds a Mas-- ter of Business Administration degree from Northwestern Uni- versity, J.L. Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechani- cal Engi- neering from Vanderbilt Univer- sity. She and her family are residents of E1 Paso. Texas. About G i r l Scouts (ELEA is the pre= eminent leadership develop- ment orga- nization for girls, with 3.7 million girl and adult members worldwide. Lady Mavericks beat Jemez in first round of State Tournament The Lordsburg High School Lady Mavericks took care of business last Friday night at Maverick Stadium when they shut down the Jemez Valley Lady Warriors 86-38, cinching advancement in the 2008 2AA State Tournament. The girls traveled to Albuquerque on Tuesday, March 10, where they took on the Mora High School Lady Rangers.The Lady Mavs rallied in the fourth quarter to beat the Lady Rangers 70-66.They will now play the Texico Lady Wolverines on Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. The winner of that game will advance to the championship game to be played Friday afternoon in the Pit in Albuquerque. NM on Fri- day, March 6. to play Valley Christian Academy. The game was the first round of State. and took place in the Gateway Christian Gym. The Panthers came out of the locker room firing, and they took an early lead in the game. They kept up that lead through- out the night. Animas won the game with a score of 69-50. This win will put the Pan- thers through to the State Tour- nament, which will be held in Albuquerque, NM. Animas will be playing their first game at the State Tournament on Tues- day against the Magdalena Lady Steers. GILA RIVER: Water flow on the Gila as of this past Monday was 126cfs. Trout fishing on the Forks was slow. LAKE ROBERTS: Trout fishing was good using salmon eggs, power bait, garlic cheese and wooly buggers. PERCHA DAM: Fishing was slow for all species. QUEMADO LAKE: We had no reports from anglers this week. RIO GRANDE: Water flow be- low Elephant Butte on Monday was 1.230cfs. Fishing below El- ephant Butte was fair using worms and spinners for trout. A few walleye and white bass were taken by anglers using grubs and sassy shad. We had no reports on other species.
