Tommy Ray Lopez (Democrat) Hel!o, my name is Tommy Ray Lopez and I am running for Hidalgo County Commissioner Position 2. I, and my wife Sylvia, have lived in Hidalgo County all our lives. I have been interested in running for a public office for some time now. However, working for over 30 years with the mines, It did not leave me much time to devote myself to a public office. Now, I do have the time and would like to be a Hidalgo County Commissioner. Our future growth is very impor- tant. We live in an ever-changing world and we need to change with it. By hearing and seeing what Hidalgo County citizens needs and concerns are; we can set realistic goals and work to achieve these goals together. Works owner Vsncent auiz i Than00 you for your business [ .a,,..n, I Iglid & Lupe Ramos (NAPA) Darr Reynolds Shannon (Republican) Proudly, as a resident of our great Hidalgo County, I love and care for it as my home. My family has been in Hidalgo County since 1890. My grandfather, Robert M. Reynolds was appointed by. Governor Octoviano Ambrosio Larrazola as the first Hidalgo County Clerk in 1920. As Commissioners Harold Kuenstler and Joey Morn will be stepping down at the end of 2010 after eight successful years, I feel my strong desire to run for this office has arrived. Motivation for me??????? Any and everything about the Hidalgo County residents are my motivation. I ask...What are your needs...what are your concerns .... what are your likes and/or dislikes? I desperately want to be a part of our great County as we continue to move forward with our endeavors. I want Hidalgo County to be fiscally responsible and solvent so that the needs of our residents can be met. As elected officials, we work for you. Qualifications come in all shapes and forms, but I feel that as an experienced worker and citizen of Hidalgo County, a few of my work experiences are unique. Through all my years of em- ployment, I have been responsible to see that every penny for every business was used wisely and accurately, making sure all was accounted for, and that is something that as a taxpayer, is important to me. I have earned taxable wages and have been a taxpaying citi- zen since I was 14 years old. I have large market banking experi- ence in Washington, DC (two years) and in New Orleans, LA (two years). I have worked for Western Bank of Lordsburg for four years and I have 23 years experience in the accounting/book- keeping/managing field. I currently own and operate my own bulk fuel and oil business that services Hidalgo County and sur- rounding counties. I along with my husband have run a success- ful ranching business for 33 years. If elected, I can assure you that through blood and sweat and heart and soul, I will be here for Hidalgo County and its residents from Virden to Rodeo to Animas, Cotton City, Playas and Lordsburg. Hidalgo County Assessor Alfredo "Freddy" Morelos Jr. (Democrat) I bring in 24 years of political experience, serving as City Coun- cilor for 24 years, 8 years as Mayor Pro-Tem. I have also been an educator in the Lordsburg Munici- pal Schools for 28 years and Served 10 years as Elementary Principal. I am currently a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. I have also served as a commissioner on the Lordsburg Housing Authority and was vice-chairman for 8 )'ears. I was also a board membe for the Small Business Development Center. I have been a member of the National Association of Lot!no Officials since 1983 and am fluent in English and Spanish. My experience dealing with people and the public is my moti- vation to stay involved in local Alfredo Moreloa Jr. politics, now at the cotlnty level. Democrat My main focus is to serve Hidalgo County to the best of my ability with an open door policy to all, ensuring fair and equal treatment while upholding high and ethical standards, all while demanding accountability. I graduated from Lordsburg High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Western New Mexico University, along with a Masters Degree in Administration. Theodoro V. Castillo (Democrat) .... 'While working for the city, I have realized that the idea of run- ning for a political office to be both intriguing and rewarding. I feel that the position of County Assessor is well within the scope of my working experience. Thus, the transition would not be too difficult and it would allow me a closer understanding of what the job re- quires. What I plan to do if elected is to focus on providing excellent customer service, training for the staff and maintain the values as to what the market reflects. Also, to run an efficient and professional office that will have a good understanding of the people's needs. What I bring to the table, is my experience with the city as their finance officer for the past 19 plus years. I am a graduate of Lordsburg High School and earned a B.S. degree in accounting from W.N.M.U. In addition, I am a U.S. Navy veteran. I speak both English and Span- ish and have many years of experience in working with the public. Cctgn'Len, You are our nurse. We wt[[ miss you of course. Happy Retirement LordsMr &hoots FRIDAY, MAY28,2010 g Jody Lynn Hatch (Republican) My motivation for seeking the office of Hidalgo County Asses- sor is simply to provide the property owners of Hidalgo County with fair and equitable assessments on the properties they own. Our office if overseen by the Property Tax Division of the Taxation and Rev- enue Department of the State of New Mexico but it is the person in charge of the local office that makes certain each of their individual counties is assessed properly. If elected I plan to focus on maintaining the high level of integ- rity that has been in the office for the past 8 years. I will continue to work with the public to see that their property records are kept in accordance with State statute and that values are fair. I am the only candidate running for this office that has experi- ence as I have been employed by the Hidalgo County Assessor's of- fice for approximately 5 years. In that time I have worked to learn each aspect of the office. All tax records are computerized and I can operate all systems within the office. I am by no means an expert Os the property tax code is ever changing. I am familiar with the current tax code and will be able to smoothly implement any changes. If I am elected my past experience will serve to make sure that the office will continue to be run smoothly to serve the property owners of Hidalgo County. Hidalgo County Sheriff Saturnino T. Madero (Democrat) Being Hidalgo County Sheriff has been long term goal I made early in my career. After my appointment as Under Sheriff, my goal became more of a reality. During my career I have had the opportunity to observe various other Sheriff's, their administra- tions, and all the good they have done for the citizens of Hidalgo County. The focuses for my ad- ministration, are the Citizens of Hidalgo County, we need to con- centrate on the needs of the people and concentrate on community policing. As an elected official it is a Sheriff's duty and responsi- bility to serve the people the best ' he can. My goal is to focus on community problems by concen- .......... trating on becoming more avail- able for the public and having SaturninoMaflero deputies interact with the citizens, Democrat having them to be more, visible and readily available. Recently we have had to place our efforts to the border issues because of the lack of man-power at the border. Now, the Border Patrol has built up their force and the National Guard is on hand, we can be more able to concentrate our efforts to community issues. I am bringing 23 years of experience with me. I have worked at three different Law Enforcement Agencies and have attended numerous training classes and seminars while under these agencies. I will focus, and continue to expand on all the good that previous administrations have brought to the Sheriff's position. I am ready to serve the citizens in a positive and professional manner, compelling all thb deputies to be professional and responsible for their actions with the rationale of having to face the consequences. Warren D. Walter (Republican) I am a candidate for Sheriff of Hidalgo County because I believe that the most important challenge facing law enforcement in our area at the present time is our ability to serve and respond to the needs of the citizens of the county. I believe that it is important to the county residents that they be able to count on having law enforcement per- sonnel available at all times. Wffh curi'ent problems along our inter- national border come new and complex challenges. Therefore, it will be important to maintain a strong cooperative relationship and open communications with all law enforcement agencies working in our area. I have lived and worked in the county for my entire life. I am completely familiar with the communities, the roads (paved and not) and the people of the county. My previous law enforcement experi- ence includes service as a Deputy Sheriff. Hidalgo County Probate Judge Lloyd V.
