HIDALGO COUNTY HERALD FRIDAY, JUNE 18, 2010 9 reminds producers of upcoming crop reporting deadline Email us at hcherald@aznex,net or hcherald @ hotmail.com DECLARATIONS OF CAND DACY Submitted by USDA/Lordsburg Salomon Ramirez, State Executive Director of USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA) in New Mexico, reminds agricul- tural producers the final date to report crop acreage is July 15, 2010. This reporting deadline applies all crops except small grains. "It is important for produc- ers to report their acreage timely so they can maintain eligibility for FSA programs," said Ramirez. "We want to ensure that producers are not excluded from program participation and do not want them to have the expense of paying a fee to meet late filed acreage reporting pro- visions. Accurate acreage reports are necessary to determine and maintain eligibility for various programs, such as the Direct and Counter-Cyclical Program (DCP), Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), Noninsured Elks holding Relay for Life Raffle The Lordsburg Elks Lodge is currently raffling off this Orange County Choppers customized pedal bike.Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5 and can be purchased from any Elk member or at the Hidalgo County Herald.Tickets will also be available at Friday nights Relay for Life.The winning ticket will be drawn that night. Those programs in- clude the Supplememtal Rev- enue Assistance Payments Pro- gram (SURE), Average Crop Revenue Election Program (ACRE), Livestock Forage Di: saster Program (LFP), Tree Assistance Program (TAP), and Emergency Assistance for Live- stock, Honeybees, and Farm Raised Fish Program (ELAP). All acreage must be re- ported for a~arm, including crops planted on non-cropland such as hayed or grazed grass- land. It is also important to ac- curately report crops' intended use. Intended use is used to de- :termine eligibility in many FSA programs and cannot be revised once reported• Late-filed provisions may be available to producers Who are unable to meet the report- ing deadline as required• Re- ports filed after the established deadline must meet certain re- quirements to be accepted and may be charged late fees.
