Take this op[tunity, to enjoy the 2010 Hicgo County Fair. Encourage eaffamily member and friends to ter exhibits in the Exhibit BtJing at the 2010 Hidalgo Coty Fair. Exhibit Building entries: Os. Vegetables/Garden Crops, Fjts& Poultry Products, Sew- ir Fancywork. Culinary, Food Pservation, Art, Photography, Fwers, Crafts. Classroom Art ~1 4-H. All entries will be ac- 0ted in the Exhibit Building at the fairgrounds from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm on Thursday, August 26. 2010. All exhibits must remain m place until 6:00 pm on Saturday, August 28. 2010, closing day of the fair. Please note the time for exhibits to be released changed in 2008. All exhibits entered for com- petition in the exhibit building must be the exhibitor's own work. No entry shall be received that has previously been entered in the Hidalgo County Fair for com- petition. All exhibitors in the Hidalgo County Fair must be a resident of Hidalgo County or attend school in Hidalgo County. Only amateurs can compete for prizes. Professional can exhibit only. All entries should have been completed within the last year. Exception: Art Department en- tries may have been completed within the last two years. To be eligible as a junior exhibitor a person must be 18 years of age or younger. There will be NO food concessions in the exhibit build- ing. Each first place entry will receive a premium of $2.00. Two Best of Show awards will be given in each department, one for a Jun- ior Exhibitor and one for an Open Exhibitor. All food items are to be on a paper plate inside h zip- per lock bag. Special awards - Grand Sweepstakes -- Junior Division - $50.00 Cash Award: Open Divi- sion -- $100.00 Cash Award to be awarded to the exhibitors in the Junior and Open Division enter- ing the most exhibits in the Ex- hibit Building. Donna Townsend Memorial Junior Sewing Award -- Trophy Buckle awarded to top Junior Sewing Exhibitor compli- ments Tommy Townsend Family. Elsie Rouse Memorial Baking Award -- Prize awarded for Open and Junior Division. Ball@ Fresh PreservingrM Awards -- to pro- mote the art of home canning and to honor adults and youth who excel at the art of home canning. Hidalg, County Fair. Ball & Kerr@ Home Canning is offering first and second place adult awards and first place youth awards. Oma McCants Memorial Cotton Special award promotes the use of cotton material. Cloth- ing exhibitors, junior and open judged together, may enter one garment of 100% cotton in this category for a special award. Quilt Cotton Special -- quilting exhibitors, junior and open judged together may enter one quilt/quilted wall hanging of 100% cotton in this category for a special award. Also available will be the: Willi Reynolds Art Photography Memorial Award - $400.00 Cash Award to the winner. One award will be given to an exhibitor from the Art or Photography Depart- meat. Culinary Silent Auction - Friday, August 27. 2010 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. Select Pies and cakes entered in the Exhibit Building will be submitted to the Silent Auction with the exhibi- tors permission. Silent Bids will be accepted on select Culinary items.
