' Courtesy photo Homecoming Week being celebrated at LHS By MICAH MONTIEIJLHS The excitement and compe- tition brewing at Lordsburg High School can only mean one thing. Homecoming week has finally arrived! This year's theme is dedi- cated to the decades. Freshmen have acquired the 1990s, sopho- mores have the 1980s, juniors have the 1970s, and finally, se- niors have the 1960s. The week kicked off on Monday with the annual talent show. Each class participated by Patrick Gallegos Galleg0s entering a skit pertaining to thff individual theme and somehGv incorporating the Mavericks. %e juniors took first place for thir Star Wars and Rocky skit whle the seriors took second place 3r their Grease musical numbr. Lordsburg students were encor- aged to enter the talent showas well. Emily Alvarez took fist place for singing "Beautifu"by Christina Aguilera. The rest of the week's ativi- ties begin with wood gathring on Tuesday and pajama tires up day. The Pow.der-puff footall game, Iron man volleyball tnr- nament, and newspaper fasLon show will be held on Wednesay at 6:30 on the new Maverick a- dium, Thursday's activities co- sist of door decorating, the be- fire, and a car bash. Door decon- ing is from 4:00-5:00 at the LH back hall. The other two activ ties begin when the sun gee down. To participate in the ca bash, there is a fee for $2.00. Fri day will be the last day of Home coming Week and will kick off with a pep rally for the Lordsburg Mavericks football team who will face Cobre later that night. A parade will follow at 2:00 which will showcase both the volleyball girls and football boys. Also, the 20H homecoming court will be presented. The homecoming foot- ball game starts at 7:00 pm and after, a dance for LHS students will be held at the LHS Cafeteria from 9:00pm-12:00. The admis- sion is $2.00. The Homecoming court for the year 20010-11 is: freshmen, Ashley Martinez and Ernie Rodriguez; Sophomores, Jonathon Murillo and Kristen Gutierrez; and Juniors, Karissa Murillo and Riley Allen. Senior nominees are Kayla Newell es- corted 'by Caesar Atvarez and Mimi Montoya escorted bY Alan Landeros.
