Public Hearing Public Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held at the City of Lordsburg Council Chambers, 409 W Wabash Street, Lordsburg, New Mexico on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at 5:30 p.m. 1) Purpose: Requesting Zoning Change from Commercial to Residential Zone RB From: Allen Hill 316 E 10th. Lordsburg, NM 88045 2) Legal Description: Lot 12Block20 Crocker Addition o3/10c kin' mighty our neighborhood in By DR. HOSEZELL BLASH/ Animas Crackin' mighty good in our neighborhood Since harvest time is fast ap- proaching, it is going to be some good crackin' time in our neigh- borhood. The morning time is in- dicative that winter will soon pay us a visit. And it makes me shudder just to think of the brutal winter months ahead. When I discovered a pistachio farm in Cot- ton City, it was like finding a bucket of gold at the end of the rainbow. Eureka! Eureka! I've found it! As I often travel on "Goat Road" in Cotton City, I spotted this pistachio farm all nestled in an ideal spot to grow nutritious nuts. And this is not a "Nutty" story ! I wanted to see and explore this pistachio farm for many months but I feared that the neigh- bors would not grant me the privi- lege to do so. I always fear the signs posted on property which read: Keep Out, No Trespassing and Private Property. But about three weeks ago l told myself that fear would not stand in my way but I had to build up my nerves by going to the owners and ask pertinent questions relative to the pistachios. That day came earlier than I had anticipated. It was about three weeks ago. I drove npthe road to the owners of the pista- chio farm. About four people were outside and watched me as I got out of my car with my camera. "Good afternoon, my name is Hosezell Blash and I would like to take a photo of your beautiful pistachio farm," I said. "Sure," said the lady that I met. "And I will take the photo for you." "Thank you very much," I ex- pressed. While taking the photo I no- : .... ticed that I was dressed just like the pistachio trees. Wow! I said, "The lady is quite a photog- rapher!" As winter approaches and the nuts ripen the fun begins when workers pick and gather the pis- tachios. Even before they are pro- cessed, I'm sure that a few pick- ers will not have the willpower to crack open a few pistachios. Some pickers will even bring his or her salt to make the pistachios tastier. Why hesitate? Crack! Crack! Crack! It's crackin' time. And we'll crack some more before that evening sun goes down. And it's mighty fun to say, "We are gonna have a mighty good time crackin' pistachios in our neighborhood!" The farm is attractive and well-cared for. It appears that the owners will have a 'bumper' crop and we all will be crackin' nuts in the neighborhood.
