It was a Christmas movie preview and why my mind wandered to when I was little and living in Mafia, Texas, I don't know. Remember seeing Santa Claus--sled and reindeer--sparked in front of the local jewelry store, which I always like to go see the mechanical scenes he displayed in his front wind for different seasons. But these reindeer, sled and Santa were real! Was telling my Mom that i had never seen reindeer like those, except in movies. They really looked like reindeer. That's what has stayed in my mind all these years. As I sit writing this~ I wonder if it wasn't Santa Claus because haven't seen a real sled and reindeer like them since! Merry Christmas! Pansy McDonald Lordsburg ust a little Santa story Our five kids had reached the age when they were beginning to doubt Santa was real so my mom, COra Kerr, my husband Murel and I decided to try and keep the myth alive a little longer. The plan was for mom and me to play games with the kids in the game room and Papa would be in the livingroom, reading his paper, while he would actually play the part of Santa. We had a Santa hat and we made a beard by tearing strips from a'roll of cotton, which he could put on his face. As the games progressed, "Santa" appeared outside a win- dow. The kids saw him and ran to the window to get a better look. They were so excited we knew we had pulled it off! Santa dropped down into the darkness and ran into the living room. We gave him a couple of minutes before suggesting we run tell Papa. Wheh they rounded the corner, there sat Papa, reading his paper, and chewing his cud, with a gob of cotton stuck to his :hin whiskers! Yep, that was the night dear o1' St. Nick bit the dust in the household ! Myra K. Mahan C q,t t~ n: ~ ~, "I gy Call . I p today!
