News from Ena Mitchell Senior Center
UPCOMING EVENTS
By LIBBY KNECHTEL/
EMSWCC
Hi Everyone!
We just had our Father's Day
Party,on the 13th. Our Father of
the year was Cirilo Rodelo. Boy
was he surprised!
He received
gifts from: The Bor-
der Rock Shop/
Verla's Western Wear,
thanks to The Cot-
tage House for the
Boutonniere, Don
Juan's Mexican
Food, The E1 Charro,
GoldHill Outpost,
Kranberry's Family
Restaurant, Mama
Rosa's/Pizza King,
Ramona's Cafr,
Saucedo's super
Market, Smith Ford,
Inc. & Western Auto
Associate Store. We
want to thank all of
our local merchants
for supporting the
Senior Citizens by
donating these gifts
to our Father of the
year, all of you are so
special for helping us.
We had an extra treat on the
13 a'. As you know we had Green
Chili Cheeseburgers, but what
you don't know, Jim Tomerlin
grilled them for us, and boy, if
you were not here, you missed a
treat! They were so good!!!! A
great big THANK YOU Jim! He
grilled not only the Congregate
burgers, he grilled the Home De-
livery ones also. Talk about
above and beyond the call of
duty ! ! ! !
We are now in the triple dig-
its, have been for two weeks or
more and summer officially starts
on the 2P t. I have a friend who is
only in their 40's and wound up
in the ER with heat exhaustion.
The reason I bring this up is, not
only is it possible to, like my
Father of the Year Cirilo Rodelo receives his
friend and wind up in the ER, but
also die from heat exhaustion and
dehydration. Yes, I am trying to
scare you, because it is very seri-
ous! Please pay attention! Keep
water at hand, when working in-
side Or outside (especially out-
side!) drink water every 10 - 15
minutes. I found the symptoms of
dehydration on Google and I
want to share with you, please
read and remember:
What are the symptoms of de-
hydration?
Mild to moderate dehydra-
tion is likely to cause:

swollen tongue ...

mouth

coma (with severe de-
hydration)

dark yellow

This week at FUMC
We all live busy lives to the
point we are exhausted and have
depleted our energy. Summer is a
good time to relax, refresh and get
geared again for what life gives
us. When we decide to take ad-
vantage of the opportunity to re-
lax and do nothing, we are likely
to put our lives in danger. This
Sunday's sermon is from 1 Kings
and the story of Elijah, the
prophet who hits the "wall" so to
speak in serving God and takes a
rest. When is too much rest a bad
thing? Discover truths this week
that will change your life. We're
the First United Methodist
Church at the corner of 3rd and
High. Worship .begins at 10:00
AM.
